To be successful as a football team, there are a few things you have to do:
1.Join the Team.
2.Show up for practice.
3.Personally improve your strength and conditioning.
4.Learn your position and do your part.
5.Never quit no matter how tough it gets!
Your “Next Steps” in the Christian Life are really no different than the steps you must take for your football team to be successful!
1. Join the Team
If you have done that, CONGRATULATIONS! We here at First Baptist are your teammates!
2. Show up for practice
It is important that you connect with your teammates. Teams work together and being involved in a local church is where you learn, grow, and develop the skills and understanding needed to be successful!
3. Personally improve your strength and conditioning
Reading God’s word and communicating (praying) will give you strength to withstand anything that comes your way. We are here to help you learn exactly how to strengthen your “Spiritual Muscles” and become an effective part of the team!
4. Learn your position and do your part
Some of you may have the idea that becoming a Christian means you should be standing on a street corner and preaching! The truth is that we all have a role to play and each role is just as important as the next. You know what would happen if your quarterback didn’t have an offensive line? That’s right…he’d get smashed!!! All players are vital…if they play their position and do it well! We want to help you do that!
5. Never quit no matter how tough it gets!
The life of a Christian is not a quitter’s game. It can be tough. There will be times when you question yourself, question God, or just feel like being different is too hard and not worth it. Let me tell you, being a champion doesn’t just happen. Anything WORTH Having is going to cost you something! The great thing about a team is you have people on the field with you. They are there to support you, encourage you, and help you through the tough times.
We are that team for you! There is ALWAYS someone here to pick you up, dust you off, and jump in there with you.
Make the decision to not just be on the team, but to be a Champion for Christ.
You are already on the Championship Team…so
GET IN THE GAME!
Make the decision NOW that you will:
Show up for practice (get involved in church)
Improve your Strength and Conditioning (Talk to God and read His word)
Learn your position and do your part (Get Involved and play a role)
AND NEVER QUIT!
You came to “Team Night” at First Baptist...
You heard the message given by Inky Johnson…
And you decided to give your life to Christ!
This, my friend, is the best decision you’ve ever made in your life!
We are so proud that you are now on Jesus’ Team!
So, NOW WHAT?
What does that really mean for you?
What should you do next?
